Shangdu Power Plant

AuCom soft starters support increased power generation in China. 

The Chinese region of Inner Mongolia generates a large proportion of the electricity used throughout the country, and the Shangdu Power Plant is a major supplier of electricity to northern China.  However, until the plant installed AuCom soft starters, unreliable pumping systems meant that operation was frequently interrupted.

Frustrated with the constant breakdowns, engineers at the power plant approached AuCom’s local distributor, Cheng Electric Company, to help design a system that would be extremely reliable and allow the plant to operate at full efficiency.  This meant replacing auto-transformer starters that were connected to rainwater and industrial wastewater extraction pumps, a critical part of the plant’s operating system.

Cheng Electric worked closely with Shangdu Power Plant to analyse the system and draw up a detailed plan to retrofit CSXi soft starters to the pumps.  Engineers at the power plant had little previous experience with soft starters, so depended on Cheng Electric to ensure a fast and trouble-free installation.  Cheng Electric’s specialist knowledge and dedicated support team ensured a successful commissioning, and the plant is now running at full efficiency.
