Reduced Voltage Motor Starters
Single-speed motor starters have starters that fall into two categories: full voltage and reduced voltage motor starters.
Full voltage motor starters
Manual and magnetic full-voltage starters apply full voltage directly to motor terminals. Combination and reversing motor starters consist of a starter with added functions.
Reduced voltage motor starters
Some machines require a gentle start and smooth acceleration before reaching full speed. Additionally, machine may be required to operate uninterrupted despite current surges or voltage fluctuation, both of which may affect the power supply during motor starting. Reduced voltage motor starters are designed to protect machines and to help motors run efficiently.
AuCom Electronics designs and manufactures solid state electronic reduced voltage motor starters that can be applied to the most common types of motor, including two–speed motors. When using a reduced voltage starter on a two-speed motor, separate motor protection must be provided for low and high-speed operation.
