At AuCom New Zealand, our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship goes beyond our products and services. On Saturday, a dedicated group of employees, along with their whānau (family), volunteered their time and energy to contribute to the restoration of Sanctuary Wetland — a precious ecosystem on the Lower Waimakariri Awa (River).

Making a Difference in Our Community

Sanctuary Wetland is a remarkable natural habitat, recognised as the largest and most diverse remaining lowland freshwater complex of floodplain, backswamp, swamp forest, and spring-fed streams in the region. It's a crucial part of our local environment, and we’re proud to play a role in its preservation.

Our team, consisting of seven passionate volunteers—Murray, Nina, Joe, Cameron, DK, Martin, and Kate—worked together to plant an impressive 823 trees! These efforts contribute to the long-term health of the wetland, providing habitat for native species and helping to restore the natural balance of the ecosystem.

We extend our thanks to Environment Canterbury Regional Council / Kaunihera Taiao ki Waitaha for allowing us to participate in this impactful event. Their expertise and organisation made for a smooth and enjoyable day.

After a day of hard work and camaraderie, our team was rewarded with a delicious barbeque prepared by the Environment Canterbury team. It was a perfect way to celebrate our shared accomplishments and enjoy some well-deserved kai (food).

At AuCom New Zealand, we believe that actions speak louder than words. Our tree planting initiative is just one of the many ways we’re working towards a greener, more sustainable future. We’re proud of our team's efforts and look forward to continuing our commitment to the environment through similar initiatives in the future.
