Science journalist Ranga Yogeshwar congratulated the team on our achievement, which was held at the German SME Summit on June 27 in Mainz. The event recognises the most forward-thinking companies in the German Mittelstand sector. AuCom MCS stood out in Size Class B (51–200 employees), particularly in the category of Innovation Success.

Our Top 100 company profile, published alongside the award states:

While other companies in the industry are increasingly relying on outsourcing, AuCom MCS GmbH & Co. KG in Sendenhorst is taking a different approach: an exceptional level of vertical integration forms the foundation of this globally active specialist in comprehensive motor control solutions. The ability to manufacture key components such as control cabinets and circuit boards in-house gives the company, founded in 1978, independence and the flexibility to develop and produce specific drive technology for the most demanding industrial applications.

Our manufacturing strength is your advantage

As many companies move toward outsourcing, AuCom takes a different path. At our Sendenhorst site, we’ve developed a high level of manufacturing capabilities that gives us a strategic advantage in a globalised market. It allows us to shorten delivery times and reduce risks in complex supply chains, something that has become increasingly important in recent years. This approach is supported by the continued growth of our Sendenhorst site, where our production area has expanded from 200 to over 6,000 square metres. Our highly automated metal production facility, equipped with advanced robotics, ensures consistently high quality "Made in Germany" and helps reduce energy consumption. This capability forms the foundation for responding flexibly to our customers’ specific requirements.

Listening closely, solving smart

At the core of our innovation is a deep understanding of our customers' real-world challenges. From technical requirements to everyday frustrations, the feedback we receive plays a key role in shaping our product development. By working closely with our customers, we’re able to create solutions that go beyond standard offerings.

This ongoing dialogue, combined with continuous investment in research and development, has led to innovations such as our compact, energy-efficient variable frequency drives. These reduce energy consumption by up to 30% in applications like pumps and conveyor systems, while their smart design saves valuable space in control cabinets.

Proven performance in harsh conditions

One of the most powerful examples of our application expertise comes from a large-scale agricultural project in Egypt. As part of the world’s largest initiative to convert desert into fertile farmland, our soft starters are powering massive irrigation pump motors, operating reliably in extreme heat and abrasive desert sand.

A key advantage of our technology is its ability to prevent dangerous pressure surges when stopping the motors. This protects critical equipment and helps ensure the long-term reliability of the entire system, even in the harshest environmental conditions.

“You’ll have to search long and hard to find a company in our industry with our level of vertical integration. When AuCom is mentioned in the same breath as Siemens or ABB, we can be proud of what we’ve achieved,” says CEO Thomas Zirk-Gunnemann.

Looking ahead

We are continuing to invest in technologies that improve how we support our customers. One of our next steps is introducing augmented reality into our service operations, using tools like digital twins to maintain machines remotely and increase service efficiency.

Our steady growth from just 10 people in the early days to nearly 200 employees today is a strong reflection of our ongoing success in innovation and our commitment to solving real challenges for industry.
